Residencies constitute an opportunity for creative minds from Portugal and abroad to develop their lines of thinking and experimentation, exploring the fertile intersection between their own unique creative identity and our shared vision of living culture as a path to transformation.
Depending on each resident’s medium, their work is to be shared with our community in various ways: performances, concerts, exhibitions, film screenings, masterclasses and workshops. They can also be disseminated as limited editions available for purchase, and/or as a part of our permanent physical and digital archives.
Terra Creative 1
Invited artist: Rafael de Oliveira a.k.a Oxyretronave

Invited by Terrafoundation to be the first artist-in-residence in our Terra Creative programme, Rafael de Oliveira spent several days in November 2022 in the region of Comporta immersed in this unique and specific ecosystem, registering a kaleidoscope of images with his camera. The residency was guided by Terra’s artistic director, Guta Moura Guedes, and London communication designer, Frith Kerr. Maintaining his usual creative process, Rafael edited some of the digital images and left others untouched, creating a research-based work that now integrates the visual database about Comporta's bioregion. Some of the results were also shown in exhibition The Day Opens My Eyes, which was part of the cultural programme of Terrafoundation Warm Up.
